Losing Weight On Raw

    Yes there is a reason dogs lose weight on raw, it has to do with the greater energy it requires to digest the higher amount of pathogens in raw meat. A similar thing happens with human raw diets. There's a lot of research done in the human health realm on this, I do recall seeing research in vet lit though, but I can't find it atm.

    Very interesting that this old thread of mine was resurrected. After feeding commercial raw for almost three years, I've put my dog back on kibble. She has been eating kibble for about 2 months now and has gained a little more than a pound. I felt like I was able to feed her a good amount of raw food and maintain a healthy weight. With kibble I feel like I'm barely feeding her anything and she has gained weight. :rolleyes2:
